# Setting up your advisor profile

> What goes on your Whetstone advisor profile, how to choose focus areas that attract the right matches, and how editing affects verification.

Your profile is what business owners read when they are matched with you. A clear, specific one attracts the right people and reduces back-and-forth before booking.

## What appears on your profile

* **One-line summary** — the first thing anyone reads
* **About you** — where you have worked and what you are genuinely good at helping with
* **Focus areas** — the topics you advise on
* **Years of experience** — your total relevant career experience
* **Rating and reviews** — feedback from owners you have worked with
* **Your photo** — a plain, friendly headshot does more for bookings than most people expect

Concrete beats impressive:

> Retired CFO — 25 years on cash flow and lending.

> Ran a 40-person commercial kitchen for two decades.

## Choosing focus areas

Focus areas are how the Whetstone team finds you when matching. Select the topics where you have deep, practical experience and can deliver clear advice in a bounded session.

<Tip>
  Keep them specific. "Operations" is broad; "supply chain optimisation for manufacturers" gets you the right match faster.
</Tip>

## Editing does not reset your verification

You can update your profile at any time from **Account**.

<Note>
  **Once you are verified, you stay verified.** Editing your bio, summary or focus areas does not send you back through review, and you will not silently drop off shortlists for fixing a typo. Only a genuine re-application — one still under review, sent back for more information, or previously rejected — goes back through review.
</Note>

## Reviews on your profile

Business owners can leave a rating and comment after confirming the work. They can change it for **14 days**, after which it is locked and forms part of your record — so your rating cannot be quietly rewritten months later.

Whether a review is also quoted publicly on the Whetstone site is a separate question the client opts into. Most do not, and it has no bearing on your profile rating.

<Note>
  A new advisor with no reviews is not disadvantaged on shortlists. The team matches on experience and writes the reason the client sees — that is what earns the first booking, not a rating you do not have yet.
